Bissel Addition
Chicago
This two story addition to a turn-of-the-century row house served as a new more formalized entry from the garage and a new kitchen with a roof deck. The square kitchen was linked to the existing building via a glass bridge. The bold red cabinets are illuminated by strip windows below the upper cabinets, a skylight on the roof and a pair of French doors leading to a tiny terrace containing a table for two. The terrace overlooks the garden and urban view to the city. Symmetrically arrayed, a pair of L shaped stairs lead to the garden.
